The Candlemass Gala
A Feast Of Light
On the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Why a Gala?
Exactly 40 days after Christmas, we celebrate that the Lord is brought out of that blessed manger to be presented to the world. If we are to form a community, then so must we go out and present ourselves.
Let us then celebrate with a beautiful night of music and dance, of food and drink, to meet others and form a true community of faithful. Inspired by the world that was, we are delighted to present you with an evening of live jazz music, ballroom dancing, and an elevated selection of food and drink. In return, we expect you to dress the part and participate in dancing and socialising.
What can you expect?
1
5:30 PM
H. Mass
The Candlemass Gala will start with H. Mass offered by our Guest of Honour. Of course, H. Mass will be in Latin with readings in English and Dutch.
2
6:30 PM
Walk-in
The doors will officially open at 6:30 PM, leaving plenty of time to socialise before the official start of the event itself.
3
7:15 PM Official opening
The Candlemass Gala will be opened by the hosts of the occasion! After a short prayer, they will introduce the programme for the Gala.
4
8:00 PM
Grand Opening dance
Aware that not everyone has had the please of learning how to dance with a partner, the Candlemass Gala will open with a Grand Opening Dance in which all attendees participate to learn at least the basics of various styles of Ballroom dance.
5
8:15 PM
Opening of the Floor
The hosts will open the dance floor, after which the Gentlemen are encouraged to invite a Lady for a dance; especially those whom they haven’t met before!
6
10:00 PM
Closing of the Gala
With a short prayer, the hosts will conclude the Gala, after which the official segment is over!
7
10:30 PM
Start of the Afterparty
However, the night is still young! Those who want, are invited to stay a little longer to enjoy Latin and popular music; of course, all still within reason given the occasion!
8
11:30 PM
Close of the Afterparty
Alas, all good things come to an end … even our Afterparty! Head home, dream about the Gala and in the morning, text your most memorable dance whether they’d like to go for coffee after H. Mass together!
9
Midnight – Doors close
Because even the hosts need to sleep!

The Dresscode
A Gala wouldn’t be a Gala if everyone wore jeans!
Gentlemen, please dress according to the occasion: preferably a tuxedo (incl. black patent leather Oxfords) or at minimum a black suit with a bow tie and leather Oxfords. Exceptions are members of the clergy who are requested to wear a cassock, and members of the military who are requested to wear their prescribed mess dress.
Ladies, please dress according to the occasion: a floor-length dress, neither overly form-fitting nor overly revealing. Simple jewelry and elbow-length so-called opera gloves are encouraged. Heels are encouraged, but ballet flats are acceptable.
Know that the dresscode is enforced – within reason, of course!
